(Wang Ying, Zhang Jun and Wu Peng are seniors in universities, and they are applying for the position of export sales staff in Bright International. They are asked to come over for a group interview given by Vivian , the companys HR manager and Tod, the export manager in the meeting room)

Three: Good morning.

Vivian: Good morning, I’m Vivian, the HR manager, and this is Tod, the export manager.

Wang: It’s very nice to meet you, Ms. Vivian and Mr. Tod. My name is Wang Ying.  

Zhang: I’m Zhang Jun.

Wu: I’m Wu Peng, nice to meet you.

Vivian: Well, could you tell us a little bit about yourselves. Shall we start with Wang Ying, and then Zhang Jun, and Wu Peng last.

Wang: I am from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, and my major is Business English. I like singing, swimming and travelling.

Zhang: I am to be graduated from Guangdong University of Business Studies this July, majoring in international economics & trade. In my spare time, I do volunteer work in community.

Wu: I come from Linnan College, Sun Yat-Sen University, and international trade is my major. I love debate and I am also a member of the debate club in the university.

Vivian: Very impressive. How about your academic records at college, Wang Ying?

Wang: I have been doing quite well in college. According to the academic records, my overall GPA is 3.8 which is the highest in my class.

Vivian: Good. Which courses do you like the best, Zhang Jun?

Zhang: Well, the courses of business English, international trade practice and world economy are my favorites, because I learn a lot from these classes.

Vivian: Excellent courses. Did you get any honors and awards at college, Wu Peng?

Wu: Yes. I was awarded a scholarship from the university every year. Besides, I was awarded the honor of the best debater in the campus.

Vivian: I see. What do you think is the most important in hunting for a job, Zhang Jun?

Zhang: I think the most important thing is the interest in the job. When I am looking for a job, the first thing I take into consideration is whether the job satisfies my interest. Of course salary is important, as well.

Vivian: What about you, Wang Ying?

Wang: The most important thing of the job to me is whether it can provide me with the opportunity for self-development.

Vivian: And you, Wu Peng?

Wu: I want a job that offers advancement of myself, and the potential for leadership.

Tod: Sure, well, you’ve all done well in your study. How do you think your education thus far will contribute to our company?  

Zhang: I have already learned a lot in the university, and I hope I can put the knowledge into practical use in your company. My specialization at the university is just in line with your job area I am applying for in your company. I am sure I can apply what I have learned to the job in the company.

Wu: I’m looking for a job which can make use of the knowledge that I have already learned from my education, and offer me opportunity for advancement. Fortunately I found it in your company. And I believe my school training and my hard work will qualify me for this position.

Wang: Well, I have already learned some basic knowledge of foreign trade from my education , so I think this will enable me to be a very fast learner on this position in your company.

Tod: Good. Would you mind telling me something about trade terms in trade practice?

Wang: Well, trade terms are also known as price terms. They are indispensable components in international quotations.

Zhang: According to Incoterms 2010, there are totally 11 trade terms. And among them FOB, CFR and CIF are the most frequently used ones.

Wu: Trade terms also help stipulate the rights and the liabilities of both the buyers and sellers, such as the problem about transportation and insurance.    

Tod: Right. Thank you all for your answers. I want to know if you mind working overtime.

Wang: No, I don’t. As long as the company needs, I don’t mind working overtime

Wu: I don’t mind if the job demand working overtime. I can work overtime if it’s necessary but I don’t think I can accept if I have to do that every day.

Zhang: I don’t mind working overtime occasionally, but I prefer regular work.

Vivian: How long would you like to stay with this company if we hire you?

Zhang: I really want a permanent job. I won’t leave as I have opportunity to apply my knowledge and to get on well with my colleagues and managers.

Wang: As long as the position here allows me to learn and to advance I think I will stay.

Wu: I think, how long I will stay with the company depends on whether the company and I are satisfied with each other.

Vivian: OK. I think that’s all for our questions. Do you have any questions for us?

Zhang: Oh, I have got one. Do you provide the so-called 5 insurances & housing fund?

Vivian: Yes, we provide 5 insurances & housing fund, travel allowance & insurance, discretionary bonus. By the way, we will notify you all of our final decision within a week. Any more questions? If no more, that’s all for our interview.

Tod: Thank you for your interest in our company.
