(Devin Barton is the Purchasing Manager of Satellite Company. He is calling Edward Stephen, the Sales Manager of Moonlite Co. in China to make an inquiry.)

场景:两个部门经理办公室      人物Devin—男外教、Edward—肖庆男

Edward: Hello?

Devin: Hello, EdwardThis is Devin Barton from Satellite Company. We received the 500 cases of Christmas ornaments you sent us. The quality is excellent.

Edward: Oh, hello, Devin. I’m so glad that you are satisfied.

Devin: Would it be possible for you to offer us 800 additional cases of crystal Christmas ball, quality same as last? We are in urgent need of the Christmas stuff.

Edward: Thank you for your inquiry, Devin. Since the prices of the raw materials have been raised, I'm afraid that we have to adjust the prices of our products accordingly.

Devin: So far as I understand, your price is on the high side already.

Edward: Our price is a little bit higher, but the quality of our products is better, as you can see it.

Devin: All right. We always have faith in the quality of your products. How would you like to change the price?

Edward: Since we have had such mutual cooperation, we'll give you a special offer, that is, $1.5 per piece. What do you say?

Devin: In that case, the price would be 5% higher than last offer. That's a little bit too much. Is it the CIF price?

Edward: I'm sorry, Devin. This is the FOB. HongKong price. The peak season, you know.

Devin: All right. Let's talk about the problem of quantity. Can you guarantee a prompt delivery of 600 cases?

Edward: Devin, we’d love to send you the goods as you required, but the recent enquiries are so large that we can only allot you 400 cases. I’m so sorry about that.

Devin: But 400 cases is far from enough. Can you try to arrange for the whole quantity?

Edward: OK, Devin. For the sake of our long term cooperation, I’ll try to see what I can do.

Devin: That’s great! Thank you so much, Edward. How about the shipping date? Could you manage to ship us the goods at the end of this month then? A timely delivery means a lot to us, you know.

Edward: Well, I'm afraid that we are unable to give you a definite date of shipment for the time being. Would you accept delivery spread over a period of time?

Devin: I understand. The peak season, right? But we definitely need a prompt shipment, or else we’ll miss the great chance of expanding the new market.

Edward: Yes, indeed. However, all I can assure you for the present is that the shipment will be made no later than the first half of next month.

Devin: Well, then we should have a discussion before placing the order in that case. Call me if you have any good news.

Edward: Of course. And I’ll talk to the Production Manager and Delivery Manager about your requirement and try to solve everything out. Thank you for calling, Devin. Goodbye.

DevinGoodbye, Edward.
